The highlight of the BISC year took place recently when 6 members of the club entered the annual speech contest.
Many thanks go to Mercedes for organising and chairing the competition in which we heard a range of speeches on topics including fashion, parenthood and being a board member.A special thanks to Beryl and Helen for keeping us in line with the calculation of scores and also to Allan for being our bouncer (I think the official Powertalk term is "page"....) for the evening!
The winner of the competition was Mike Venables with new member Ron Anglin taking second place and Margaret Wellington in third place. Mike and Rob will go forward to represent the club at the Anglia Council speech contest on 26th February at the Express by Holiday Inn, Acton Gate, Stafford. Anybody wishing to attend the meeting should contact Margaret at margaret.wellington@blueyonder.co.uk for further details and a booking form.
The next club meeting will take place on 23rd February at the Plough and Harrow with the theme of "What is Love?" We will be in touch with speakers shortly.
Once again, well done to everybody involved in the speech contest and good luck to Mike and Rob in the next round.
