Theme : A fitting way to celebrate an early Hallowe'en
Dear all
It was great to see a full room of members and guests at the meeting of Birmingham International Speakers' Club on Wednesday evening. Our theme was "Ghost Stories" and as usual, we saw a selection of fabulous speeches.
Margaret started off the evening with a welcome to all and then we heard speeches from Steve,Chris, Josie, Henri and Lorna . Topics ranged from a quick tour of Steve's native Wales and the spirits that inhabit parts of it to Henri's take on being afraid of the "big bad yesterday" with some of Dickens' Christmas Carol, fight or flight theory and the dangers of exploring ouija boards in your pursuit of curosity in the after-life.
We welcome former Lichfield Powertalk member Ken Lowles to the meeting in the second half and he entertained us with his stories of times when he as walked with ghosts - our thanks to Ken for making it to us all the way from Leicestershire thorough the throng of Aston Villa traffic!
This weekend is the Anglia Council training day on the theme of Motivation with guest speaker Karl George MBE . Proceedings commence at 10am at the Express by Holiday Inn, Acton Gate,Stafford.
Please do join us for the our next meeting on the 10th November when the theme will be "Room 101 - your worst fear, nightmare or phobia" - hope to see you then!
Best wishes
Lucy Dinsdale
President of Birmingham International Speakers Club (BISC)
